Hi Gang, I am replacing both full rear qtr panels and I noticed that the new panels did not have the little "NIBS" up and down the side to attach the rear window mouldings to with the moulding clips. Will I be able to use my old mouldings or will I have to get new mouldings with some type of new clip?? and then what about the upper and lower mouldings that will remain unchanged ?? anyone encountered this before ? Thanks
They were a welded on copper stud. You have to have access to the proper type of welding equipment to redo these. Most higher quality body shops that now have pinch weld type resistance welders can accomplish this. I have an Electron brand model M80 single phase 220v which I have used for this. Glass shops typically pop rivet or screw the clips on before installation of the glass, but this method creates an area where corrosion can start. Some of the dent pulling equipment available can accomplish this activity but many don't have a narrow enough head to reach where these studs need to be attached. If you want it done you need to get someone to do it before paint because it does generate some heat. dz
