I'm honored to be featured. The car is neither concours nor pristine, just a solid driver I've had fun with over the years. Track pictures are from Charlotte in 1987. And yes I know the car is striped like a '68, didn't know any better when the car was repainted. Hope to have the car back on the road for the Carlisle AFN in June and then the SAAC convention.
Doesn't have to be pristine to be a great looking car Roy. If you'd like to ship her over to OZ I'll give her a polish and a blast around a couple of tracks and be the envy of all my FPV/Ford Club mates. You're a lucky man.
Sweet looking ride! I'd love to own one of the early GT500's or GT350's! Just need to find a 68 to go with my 2008! Keep up the good work on the car, she is a beauty! Carl
Roy, I love your car! To me perfection is having the car usable and changed to meets your needs and or wants. Quick question, a car the same color as yours blew his motor at Charlotte in 87 on the track, that was not you was it? I remember them tying the tow strap to the roll bar when they pulled it off the track.
Nope, wasn't me. I do remember the incident however. My claim to fame will probably be blowing up at Millville in 2008 (SAAC33).
Roy: Your car looks awesome! The color, the way it sits, all sweet. I love the magstars. I really want to put them on my 67 Shelby more and more. Our cars are close in number. Congrats on car of the month! Jim #3000
I must agree, it is BEAUTIFUL. The first Shelby I ever saw looked exactly like yours. It was love at first sight, and the love affair still lingers. FANTASTIC Car!!
Thanks to all who posted with kind words, I'm glad you like my car. As I said before, it has been an honor to have my car named "car of the month". As this month comes to a close, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention a few names who have helped me over the years with it, so here goes. My thanks to George, Randy, John, and Steve at Perogie Enterprises for allowing me to have a place to do a good portion of the restoration work. These guys are the best and have bailed me out more than once. I owe them "big time". The car is currently at their shop while we get the engine back together for this year's season (we're making progress, but it will not happen overnight, updates will be posted on the "Big Bang" thread). A big thanks to Chris Walling for doing the actual restoration work at Perogie's and at his own shop up in northern New Jersey fifteen years ago or so. He was the one who made all the fiberglass fit, not an easy job when it comes to '67 glass. He was responsible for the bodywork, the interior and exterior paint, and the striping. It still looks good, Chris. Thanks to Randy Shelby for starting and maintaining this great forum. Without him we'd have no independent outlet for our opinions. Finally, thanks to all the enthusiastic forums members. The people who post here are some of the most informed in the hobby. I'm always amazed at the depth of their knowledge of the most obscure things. So keep 'em rolling and "take it to the limit one more time"! They're no fun if they're just sitting around collecting polish in the garage.
Wow, just looked at this after all these years. Has it really been 10? I post in answer to the question was that me that blew up at Charlotte? I responded "My claim to fame will probably be blowing up at Millville in 2008 (SAAC33)". I must have been a prophet becauase that's exactly what happened.
