Well the time has come to think about new tires for my 1966 GT350H with 14 X 6 Magnums. I could spend $1800 for the 6.95 14 Goodyears from Lester Tire, but that's a little too rich for me, and others have told me they are really crappy tires. I want to have an "orginal" look and have been looking at the E-70 14's Godyear Polyglass, but don't want to run in clearance prblems. Any of the experts out there want to help me out.? Looking for suggestions. Car is not lowered and has stock suspension height
If you want original, you probably need to check out Coker Tire; but, you are going to have to pay for original. Otherwise, there are several tires out there that look good, and will give you a good ride. Cheers. TommyJ
Goodrich Traction T/A is about the best performing tire you can readily find in a 14" size. Their 195/70-14 fit my car fine without any rubbing issues. Lots of sidewall for that vintage look. I read another post somewhere that the 205/70-14 Traction T/A also fit ok. Z. Ray
The E70/14 polyglass tires will work without clearance problems. Any tire that exceeds a 26" overall diameter may rub the front fenders. I currently have these on my 66. Probably not a good tire for a driver,[too stiff]. Note my car has not been lowered.Hope this helps.
The E-70-14 Goodyear Polyglass will fit fine, as stated, and are a good value camparitively. There's a guy on ePay that has some 14" tires from his corvette for sale that are radials with the blue streak tread pattern on them I was considering, but 296 is not going to need them for a while...
