Hello everyone, I hope that someone will be able to help me with a couple questions that I have. I currently have a 600 Holley on my plain jane Fastback. A while back I stumbled across a website that sold the LeMans fuel bowls for the Holley carb. I really like the looks of them, and since I don't really want to spend the money for a reproduction 715, does anyone know of a place that still sells them? And the crossover tubes as well? I have one last question. Are the basic bodies of the Holley 4 barrel carb the same? I am wondering, if I am able to get the LeMans bowls, if I can then just get the Shelby hard line from the pump to the carb. If they are the same size then I won't need to worry about it not coming out right and maybe needing to bend or add some line. Thanks in advance for any help
Hi Best address is this: http://www.carlsfordparts.com/ You can bend the crossover yourself if you have a tool for bending brakelines it´s easy. Mine was damaged from the transport from the US when i ordered it. I had my lines bent at work because they have the better tools there. BYe Jerry
Jerry, Thank you very much for the info. It turns out that is the site I ran across before but couldn't remember what it was. It is now in my favorites so I don't have to worry about losing it again. Not to be a pain, but do you know if the LeMans bowls will make the carb the same length as the 715 so I can just use the prebent Shelby fuel line? Thanks again
You mean if you buy the LE Mans bowls and put them on your stock carb that the original Shelby lines will fit? Yes! All you need is the fuel bowls with floats the gas linea and gaskets. Then you should be good. Buy a whole gasket kit. You will need for your accelerator pump and other stuff. Bye Jerry
Hi, I am not an expert on carbs but I think you will have a compatibility problem between a plain 600cfm, 1850? and Le Mans bowls. It has a secondary metering plate instead of a block with replaceable jets. This means that the screws are different and the connection tube must be shorter as well. Texas Swede
Hmm......maybe it´s best if he calls Carl and he will tell him what he needs. I also don´t know. If you compare the http://www.cobranda.com/715cfmhoca.html with a regular Carb it does not look like there are different. But i would not bet my car on it. Bye Jerry
I converted a 1850 (Model 4160) to LeMans bowels and bent my own transfer tube. The difference in length is the width of one metering block. You may also have to use pipe thread to flare nut adapters instead of the original compression fittings for the transfer tube. The look is still much the same as the original.
I have converted two GT390 carbs to Lemans bowls...no problems. If you are using the 1850 carbs then a shorter fuel tranfer tube is required as mentioned above.
Thanks everyone for all of your replies. I really appreciate them. I am not in a big hurry to do this, but I think it would be nice. I will buy the bowls from Carl so I will ask him his take on the situation as well. Thanks
