I need the experts advice. This has happened to me twice on previous 68 428cj cars. During teardown and cleaning up of parts I find 2 of the triangle shaped hooks with the parts instead of one of these styles and then the left hand bigger style. MY question is this. Do you think that maybe the early 68 cars had 2 of the same hooks instead of the typical 69-70 cj hooks?

Two small triangle hooks (mirror images) were used on 1968 GT500KRs. It is possible some cars at the end of the run got the one big/one small hook. I think most cars used the hooks you described.

I agree with Pete. I haven't seen the large hook on any original cars. If it was used, again if, it probably would have been very late in production.

I have a NJ built 428 cj with a build date of nov of 1968 with the smaller lift hooks that have never been removed. The motor was removed from a 1969 R code mach1.
