I put a 2008 Shelby GT on hold yesterday and was approved for my loan. I'm a little uneasy about purchasing the car because I thing the price is too high. The dealer had the car marked at 52,000 but then recently marked it down to 38,000.00 which I think is still two high concidering there is no Supercharger or 6spd Transmission (manual). What do you all think?

I would say it is a bit high especially considering 2010 Mustangs are now available.

    Good Luck!

I don't think $38 is too much if you're the first owner. Oh and welcome to the site.

Ok the car is now 37,000.00 and I also got 7yr / 75,000 mile warrenty with a 4.64% intrest rate. What do you all think?

I guess that is your call. The warranty is certainly worth something. I personally probably would never get 75,000 miles on the car nor would I keep it 7 years. So to me, the added warranty does not add any thing. It may however be a real benefit to you. Only you can decide.

Yeah we're quite the opposite. I have a 1993 GT Conv. that I've had since 1996. I do plan on keeping this car for a long time with no plans to get rid of it or my 1993 unless it's to give to my son. So the warranty is a definite plus for me if it's not voided with I add the kennebell super charger. If I find out this will void the warranty I'll have it removed. Thanks for your input.

You could use the Ford racing supercharger, then you would have no issues with voided warranty.

A bit high I think. there is a 2008 gt500 in houston with 4k miles for 40.9k. houston craigslist. dallas has 2 in the 38k range with 10k miles. If you wait till after the 2010 comes out strong you might find an 09 gt500 in the low 40's. If you are gonna put that much money out, bite th bullet and get a 500.You will be glad you did 5 or 6 years from now. oh there is another 500 in waxahachie texas 2008 with 10k miles never raced for 38k.

Thanks for the info Wylie, I have seen the the GT 500's out there for a really good price but there were a couple of reasons why I wanted to the Shelby GT over the GT500.

1st I didn't want the 5.4, my 93 GT 5.0 drinks enough gas as it is, so I wanted to go with the 4.6 with plans to add the Kennebell SC and the 6spd tranny. 2nd, I wanted the Shelby GT just for the simple fact there were only 2,300+- of them made. I know this does make it a great collectors item today but 10-15 years down the road I think it will be more of a collectors item over the GT500 which there were a lot more produced. I hear there were about 8,000 +-. Plus with the added SC and the 6spd tranny it will make the car more unique. I plan on keeping the car for a long time just like my 93GT Conv I've owned since 1996.

I always said I would never buy a new car with the large depreciation they have after driving off the lot but I'm over in Germany and we don't have the large selection of used cars especially mustangs. I also though about ordering one off ebay but I feel a little uneasy if I can't check the car out myself. So I purchased this car for all the above reasons. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting ripped of on the price since there is no NADA or KBB price list for this car.

But after a lot of research; talking to Shelby dealer, internet searches and talking to you all I think I made the right choice. 36,000 minus the 7yr warrenty.
