Was going to get a report on vin# found out u have to remove vin plate to get Ford number. The numer on the plate is shelby number correct. Number stamped on fender support also matches vin plate. Shelby number. Is this a good idea to remove to get the report. You then have to re-attach vin plate. Do or not do??? What has others done to get full report?

Contact the right Registra at SAAC and give him your Ford VIN number and you Shelby VIN Number and he can tell you if they Match and then send for your report. You should NOT have to remove the Shelby Plate to do so (unless the FORD Vin Tag is the wrong one).

If you DO need to check the VIN # under the Shelby Tag, just Drill out ONE of the Rivits and swing the Tag out of the way to read the VIN# that is under it.

The Ford VIN which is under the tag is different then the Shelby number on the metal plate. That is why you have to remove the tag. Kevin Marti's Ford sourced data base has the information to match up which Ford vin goes with which Shelby vin. If the two do not correspond with what Marti has in his data base then there is a problem. That is one of the reasons for the report I don't see any problem with removing the tag. It isn't very involved to drill out the rivets to remove it. If you are not confident enough to carry out what needs to be done then search out a body shop ,mechanic friend who is and give the instructions to be very careful not to let the spinning drill head come in contact with the metal plate. Removal of the tag does not compromise the integrity or value of the car. Every prudent buyer will want that verification of what is under the tag. The rivets are available to properly reattach the Shelby tag. If your not sure of which rivets this is a very good place to ask ,just give the year of the Shelby. The Marti report(Kevin Marti) has become a standard of the Ford collector car business/hobby. I hope this help explain so you can make a decision you are comfortable with. Bob
