Restoring a 68 Shelby GT350 to be judged in the Concours Div II. I am thinking about changing the original Gold Metallic to another 68 Shelby color or adding White Rally Strips to the original Gold Metallic. What do YOU think. Thanks
Ralley Stripes....NO. Lemans Stripes.....YES. The Lemans Stripes were a Dealer Option so they should be OK to install. Changing Colors will be a big NoNo especially if going for Concours. Leave it Gold. I think the Gold is a rare color to.
If your restoring the car then there is little choice- iit get left as it left the factory. Green and no stripes. If you change either than you have a modified car by definition Easy choice. IMHO
Before you call the painter, please look at what a great color that Gold Metallic is Of course it is your car, but that gold is an awesome color for us photographers. http://www.shelbyforums.com/gallery/files/1/6/4/0/1968_gt500_side.jpg http://www.shelbyforums.com/gallery/files/1/6/4/0/1968_gt350_front.jpg http://www.shelbyforums.com/gallery/files/1/6/4/0/1968_gt350_engine.jpg
You said Div 2 so i assume you are talking SAAC. You will lose 30 points for a color change (20 in MCA). Lemans stripes, if done correctly, will be no point deduction in either. On a personal note I vote for original color, no stripes.
