Great idea..Its that feeling in your gut after something like this happens.. you realize I should have known better than to let that happen. Past is past and you can't change it but we live to be a wiser person in the end...Hopefully!! LOL

Thank you for the info -
I looked at the Registry but did not see the TSB (sorry it was just a quick scan) so if I may ask for a little more info, what type of chain (rounded link, wire link..) and what method of attachment - was it spot welded to the hinge, did they run a bolt through the link on the attached hinge end...?

    Update on Springs

First, I want to Thank all you folks for your help and wisdom.

Secondly I would like to share what I feel is a reasonable solution, at least for me. I owe this one to Earl out at CJ PonyParts. I had called to see if they had a used pair of 66 springs which was discussed earlier on in this thread. They responded with "Why don't you use the 67 Shelby hood springs (HDHS3) ? Well as most of you know when it comes to the car "in for a penny, in for a dollar", so I said sure send them. I figured the worst that could happen is that i would add them to my springs, prop rod and chain collection

They are not a perfect physical match, being slightly smaller diameter, but they fit and hold the hood up to a reasonable height and have a good firm tension.

Sounds like you've got it solved with the 67 parts. I don't have access to my registry right now (I'm visiting relatives out of town) but when I get home next week I will look and see if I can find it. I thought it was in the 1997 registry, but it could have been one of the earlier ones, I'll check all of them and let you know what I find. I know it's there, just don't remember exactly where (that damn oldtimers is playing with me again). I guess like they say "Getting Old Beats the Alternative". Don't really know, haven't experienced the other yet...
