I traded in my '08 Shelby GT for what I really wanted. An '08 GT500, and I have noticed that mounted under the car, about even with the rear part of the door, there is some sort of black plastic baffle on each side. It is getting sort of chewed up on one end of each, and protrudes downward and is visible from the side if you look from a few yards away. Anyone know what these are for, and if they are neccesary? It appears to me that they may cause some unwanted drag, or upforce at speed.

    Thanks, TC

MAN! Why did you trade your Shelby GT for the 500?

I traded it for the 500 HP, but also I was getting tired of messing with the stripe and hood scoop issues, I couldn't drive it thru a brushless carwash for fear of stripes peeling. That's one of the striping issues I had. Plus I had just gotten a rock chip on the wind shield! But bottom line was, a local dealer was very kind to me in the deal.

Yeah I hear you on the strips man, I took mine in to the ford dealer here to have the strips replace. I went in to pick up the car and the stripes had been painted on with out my permission. The dealer said they tried to put the new strips on but they started bunching up right away. I was a little upset at first but then after looking at it they turned out to match perfect.

The only problem is i have to take it back again because I don't think they let the paint to the stripes dry all the way before putting the scoop back on because some of the paint under the scoop is coming off. I'm going to see if I can get them to give me a good deal on painting the rest of the strips when I take it back. When I get back to the states I think I'm going to have the supercharge added to my SGT also. Post some pics of your new ride when you get a chance.

If they are what I am thinking of, my V6 Mustangs have them to. They are very similar to Squeegees (metal Braket with a Rubber piece. They are used to squeegee the Road at High Speeds as you Car tends to get lower to the road the faster you go.

J/K, not sure what they are for, my true guess is to divert the Air under the Car from around the Gas Tanks.
