Hi all, I've had my 67GT500 since 1971. I bought it as a theft recovery form a guy in Corona,CA. It was in good shape body wise other than the fact the wheels,engine,trans,hood, & underdash gauges were gone. I was working as a Ford Mechanic at the time, so I got good prices on parts then. I ordered out stuff ta build a medium riser 427 to put in it. It's funny now looking back at the recipts now. $450 for a 67 mechanical cam short block, $49 for bare heads, wish I had bought MORE!!! I drove the car reguarly up to the early 90's. The car was Dark Metalic Blue, I painted in Bright Metelic Blue in the garage in '75. put about 10 coats of laquer, hand rubbed & polished. Looked really good! Only bad thing about laquer is rock & stone chips! mid 90's started to sand it all down to scrach & start over. It's just been set'n all this time,now it's time to get back on it. The kids are all grown & out (thank god) it DADS time ta play. Boy that was fun ta drive. Now I don't quite know what all I want to do as far as resto work. I'll prob buy a rotissory and do it right! My only question is do i want to restore or restomod the supention, ie bolt in coil over & power rack 7 pinion. any feed back?
Keep the car original . From a investment standpoint you will be money ahead. If you are going to restmod something get a donor 67 fastback and put all those goodies on it and make it look like your 67 GT500. When it comes time to sell, the difference between the price of a restomoded GT500 and one that is original in the same shape would certainly be enough or more then money to pay for a reasonable priced donor 67. Welcome,...Resto mods are an evolution. Whats excepted today may not be 10 years down the road. Just look at some of the rainbow paint work, chrome and rims from the 80's. Before that it was air shocks and side pipes! All of this was excepted for the time. Original stock will always fit in because thats the way they came. Done once and time less forever. [JMHO], but the car is yours and you only need to please one person, you.

Hi Mike. Welcome! I bought my '67 GT 500 in '76 from a mechanic who worked for Parnelli Jones here in Torrance. I did not work for Ford but I hung out at our local dealership (Vel's Ford) here in Torrance so much that they taught me how to use the books. I bought every part I could find including the '65 to '72 cars parts books. I'm bending over backwards to keep mine as it came from the factory. A real challange!! Good Luck! Brian
