hey, any of you out there get a noise that sounds like a diesel car or truck as it pulls awy from a stop, coming from [sounds like] the clutch or trans. area of car. to describe it i guess i would say it's a rattling noise as you release the clutch and give throttle,as you keep increasing speed it seems to get quieter. also if you hold the clutch in it goes away. put the car in neutral and release the clutch and you can hear it from sounding like under the trans. area of the car. is this normal. is it clutch throwout bearing or what. please help. thanks. rob widner

I would replace the clutch and pressure plate - and since you have the tranny of anyway - replace the throwout bearing (cheap insurance).
Check the flywheel carefully for cracks or glazing or oil from a leak while you are under there. Its been a long time - and the memory is not what it used to be - but I seem to remember that the springs on the clutch itself can be one of the causes of this problem. Best of luck.

There is a TSB Technical service bulletin put out by Ford to do with clutch warping due to a bad flywheel. Sign in to the GT500 forum and do a search on it. It is on certain shelby's made before a specific date. Or check with your dealer.

sorry,,,it is actually the flywheel warping causing the clutch to go bad. It also causes the clutch to drag meaning the car creeps forward with the clutch all the way down. The TSB number is 08-16-04 which was the original TSB. Then came TSB 09-9-2 which supercedes it on cars built before 09-01-2008. What year is your car?

hey wylie, mine is a 2007. just for info purposes, listen to this.i took it to the local ford dealer here in bossier, louisiana.they said it's a characteristic of the race type cutch/trans. {ha ha} showed me some of those nice tsb's, said mine was gear rollover. yea right! they have had the car at the dealership for in and out of two weeks and they come back with this lame sorry response. this is normal for this car they say.my take is this, they don't have a problem over at ford credit takin' my payments, but they can't stand behind a product that has shelby's name involved. what a disgrace.and they wonder why our major car makers are failing. duh! any advice on what to do is very appreciated. i love the car, just not impressed with their quality control.

-_-:(I have the same problem, and was thinking that it's a combination of a bad pilot bearing(noise in neutral, clutch out). Maybe I should get it to the dealer. Mine's just a SGT 2007.
