hi! I have copy of 5R 108, the engine is 334 stroked efi. The car is not ready, but i have test it on road, track, slalom and drag. The car whit new 334 engine. YouTube - Mustang Fastback 65 On drag strip, 12.55 s. / 189 km/h in first run (very poor run). YouTube - Mustang Fastback 65 Here is the car whit old 289 engine. YouTube - Ahvenisto 10.9-06
I guess I am confused ? Are you the owner of 5R 108 also ? If not, what's up with calling the car you have by the other car's serial number ?
As I try to say, the car is a copy. It is Ford Mustang 65 fb. I’m not the owner of 5R 108, and I never had enough money for the original 5R 108. Some yeas ago I star to build new engine for V8 class (http://www.historicrace.fi/) now it is ready. I have raced whit Ford Mustang 65 fb in that class few years. But the car needs more original type engine like 289, but it mast bee a racing engine. 334 engine is little bit too much (540 hp 600 Nm). The plan is build the car in FIA historic car.
I think I understand, he has a copy. My personal opinion is this should be called an "r-model" or a "clone" or a "race car" or a "Mustang" or a "Mustang race car" Using a real Ford serial number is not a good idea even if use the word "copy". What does 5R 108 have to do with anything in this story ? The correct answer it has nothing to do with this car. I am actually a little surprised it's allowed to be described as such on a website that promotes the cars. If there are two 5R 108s in the world, obviously one of them is a copy. I think it could be said once the history is muddied to the point of confusion, the "real" car is devalued. I know that is the case, because I have seen it many times. There is no such thing as a "copy" of a real car. You either have it or you dont. Period.
I think, I understand your point. May bee I told it in wrong way. Anyway this car is Ford Mustang 65 fb, WIN 5F09A306613 BODY 63A –> lot of modification, FIA roll cage and extra strengthening. COLOR 5 –> not original, white with red and green stripes. TRIM 26 –> no trims, FIA seats and belts. DATE 01K DSO 14 AXEL 1 –> modified Ford 9”, w. Detroit locker 3.50:1. TRANS 6 –> modified top loader. Engine: 334 cid Bore / stroke 4.125” / 3.125” Block, Dart Iron Eagle Crankshaft, BRYANT Racing 0 oz custom. Connection rods, PO Metals Oy (Riihimaki Finland) C/C 5.470”, B/E 2.125”, S/E 0.927” Pistons, Venolia custom 12.5:1 (we can use Shell V-power gasoline without any additive (http://www.motec.com.au/fueltest/newsfueltest/) Cylinder heads, AFR 205 modified. ECU, TATECH 32 (http://www.tatech.fi/index.php) CDI IGNITION SYSTEM, M&W Pro 18c Eight channel Autronic multiplex input cdi ignition with 8 CDI coli. And lot of. I have don almost everything my self. And everything has been customized for racing. I think it only look like R model. There are more images and videos. http://s58.photobucket.com/albums/g271/Mexico65/334 Stroke/ If some one likes to know more about the car or engine, I can tel.
I don't have a problem with the car and I think it's neat what you have done. The car looks good. I could be wrong; but I don't think the owner of that car or the Shelby Club would look upon using that number favorably (even if its a copy). After reading your posts, I know your intention is not to claim the number or fool anyone. However I have seen too many cases where more than one person claims to have the same serial number. That is a big mess. Usually lawyers are involved and no one wins. Wouldn't it be better if there was one owner for each number?
There are clones or copies of many single cars such as the Donahue R Model (of course the owner has the original as well), Trans Am cars (lots of #15) and various Cobras, Dragonsnakes and other "tribute copies". I do not see the problem as long as the car is not misrepresented as the original. As a matter of fact, copies may increase the values of the original as it can make more people aware of the single special vehicle and its history. The key here is honesty and disclosure which seems to be the case.
+1, I could not agree more. Why would he care what either of these people think as long as he says it is a copy, clone, tribute, or whatever name is currently being used for these cars.
I think what CoralSnake is saying (correct me if i am wrong) is that a Copy (clone) is not the problem. The problem is that he is using the "5R108" number on the Car. Most Clones that I see will either do "NOTREAL" or just put "65RCLONE" on the Under Hood Tag.
The key is to ONLY have the original vin number that is stamped to the car, that way no confusion on what it really is. After market shelby tags can still mess with folks, thinking that they may be a clone or replica done by shelby or?? [these tags should be gone, and NOT for sale!] JMHO
Mexico65, Thought you and your car were in Mexico until I heard you spoke Finnish in the videos which were great by the way. Thanks, Texas Swede
