Hi folks, I just purchased an 07 SGT with only 53 miles on it, this car is a blast. I picked it up it up in Vermont from a collector and drove it back to Massachusetts. Complete with dealer stickers, hood pin warnings, plastic on the carpets, and Shelby mats still in the trunk, unbelievable find. Can an 07 acually be considered as a "barn find"? So far I've managed to break it in with approximatly 500 easy miles over the last couple of days (Its was hard to see those early miles tumble!) I just did an oil change and intro service. On a funny side note, the tech at Ford said the oil pan had a heart drawn on the oil pan; it likely came from a Shelby tech in Nevada, whats not to love...lol.

Anyways, I've been investigating the forums about the expected stuff, stripes and hood issues seem to be a problem. So far I dont have the stripe issues expressed by some but.... my car has what looks like a piece of lint or something under the stripe right at the end of the hood above the bumper; it looks like a tool ding from the bottom up but theres no sign of dinging under the hood. For what its worth the car is basically new. like a new child, anything out of sorts is disturbing, maybe I will get over it in a couple days but it bugs me. I imagine peeling the stripe back a couple inches to get the debri out is a bad idea, any suggestions?

Already the hood scope looks like crap, obviously these things are not up to the expectations and quality of the rest of the vehicle which is A1, (I have never been so excited and proud of my ride, I'm simply awe-struck at the, vehicle) The scoop on my car looks a bit warped and sits kind of funny; tho so far it seems tight. Does warranty on the hood scoop cover the "looseness" or the warping issue? For these issues should I contact Shelby or Ford customer service? While getting it's first service the manager of the autobody shop said that Shelby has been useless for the stripe issue and suspects the same would apply to the hood scoop, (no offense Shelby, these guys are not enthusiast, nor are they the type who cares to take care of a customer who bought the car from a 3rd party). He suggests I call Ford customer service. I dont want to be a pain in the ass of either Ford or Shelby, I just want execute what I can under the initial warranty of 19 months and the balance of miles, appoximately 34.5K. Are there any specific dealers in Massachusetts that heve a handle on these issues? The guys here are ok but there are not a lot of SGT's here in Mass.

I'm now having to wrestle with making room in the garage for the car, I know there there is still some summer left and springs cool dense air to look forward to, but the winter will be long knowing what will be sitting under me for several months....lol.

    Hello, welcome aboard.
I think the Car would have to be 20 Years Old or Older with low Miles to be considered a Barn Find. Send Amy an Email about the Stripe & Scoop. Amy is the Prez of Shelby Automobiles and will help you. DO NOT peel up the Stripe. Good Luck and enjoy your new ride.

    David.

Welcome to the SGT bunch. Probably the best way to get issues with your SGT corrected is via your local Ford dealer. I've had two sets of hood stripes replaced and just got the car back from having the entire set of silver stripes replaced along with the warping hood scoop. Love my 08 SGT, its handling surpases all my former rides. I've been to the Shelby factory and will probably te taking my SGT there for some 4.6 upgrades.

Of interest to the rest of us SGT owners with silver stripes, while at a car show on Sunday I spent some time talking with a 07 GT 500 owner of a Vista Blue w/silver stripes. His Ford produced GT 500's with the silver stripes hasn't yet experienced the discoloration of the silver stripes. Could it be that the Shelby silver stripes and those installed by Ford at their factory originated from different manufacturers???

Thanks very much for the welcome. I suspect I will be around here for a while It might have took several decades to finally get a Shelby, but odds are it will hang with me for several more.

Stupid question, but how do I contact Amy?

I have a 2008 GT and it has a heart on the oil pan and little faces drawn on both sides where there are holes. I wonder how many others have this.

I have a 2007 SGT and just got the hood scoop replaced, this week at a Ford Dealer Body Shop - with a Shelby Re-Fit nicer scoop

( If you want to be able to take the scoop off and on - I can give you stainless bolt & aluminum Nut-sert part #'s from Fastenal ) 24 each of:
    8-32 Fl Nutsrt Alu S Part # 0125631 ( around $13.00 )
    8-32 x 3/4 BHSCS S/S Part # 1173724 ( pack of 100 = $16.25 )
You will have to pay for the extra Labor to do the Nutsert's - cost me an extra $100.oo

Shelby warrantied it - they knew about the problems.

    GOD Bless
