I bought a 1966 fastback "K" code car from a guy that was going to make a Shelby clone with it. In the early 90's he purchased a lot of parts that he said are original Shelby parts. Some are still in the boxes and some are not. The 10 spoke wheels have had new Goodyear tires mounted on them and then bolted on the car. The tires and wheel have never been driven on. This is an older guy that has lots of money to buy parts but never had the drive to do the hard work of restoring the car.
I like the looks of the wheels but at best this is going to be a clone car and it doesn't seem right running original wheels on a clone. If I can identify the wheels as being original I would like to sell them to someone who has a True Shelby and I could run reproduction ones. How can I tell if they are original 10 spoke wheels? There are numbers stamped in the backside of the spokes and the backside of the casting is pretty smooth. I have seen recent reproduction wheel that the backside is really rough looking. Any information would be of help. Thanks.

This matter of the various productions of 10 spokes has been discussed on the www.SAAC.com/fourms page in the past. I would suggest you post your message there for a more detail response and to see if any owner of an original 66 GT350 is interested in the wheels.B)

    Dolittle,
No need to go to the SAAC forums, just post some pics here and you should get some knowledgable responses.

Here is some pictures of the wheels. I have done a little more research and it looks like they are not original wheels. It looks like the taper on the spokes are going the wrong way from some of the pictures I have looked at. I would appreciate any information on the ones I have and an idea of how much they might be worth. They are definitely new wheel. Thanks for the help.

With the valve stem recessed between the spokes and the hub cap design, I am guessing that these are the ones made by Shelby Wheels in Gardena in the 1980s. They look in great condition.

    Hi all,
The pictures show these wheels use a shouldered type lug nut--not a tapered one, that plus the countersink for the valve stem and the center cap style and attaching plate....all point to the wheels made by Shelby in the late 70's-early 80's.They are worth keeping and I would not sell them unless you really need to..I like them blacked out with polished spokes also.Sometimes people are open to trades, which maybe another option--trade for something you need to complete this project.Keep us posted on the outcome.

Thanks for the information. If I do decide to sell or swap them do you have an idea of what they might be worth or where to go to do that? I would think them being an early version and new would make them easier to sell and hopefully for enough to cover the cost of the wheels I want. They are cool wheels but I am not sure that is the look I am going for on this car.

I don't have any certain wheel picked out yet but I like the looks of the classic Cragar wheels. Do you have an idea of how much these are worth in dollars?

The ones that I was thinking in my mind was the first picture which is all chrome and not satin like the second wheel. Are you saying the 10 spoke wheels are about $140 to $175 ea or the Cragar wheels are that much?

Branda's website says check. for availability. I wonder if they are readily available, just wondering.
