I'm thinking of restoring a 1970 Mustang that I inherited and want to know if there are any companies that you guys go to for most of your needs as far as"bits & pieces" for your older Mustangs. You know, like emblems, stickers, trim pieces, interior parts, etc, etc.
Back in the day when I had a Corvette, there were 2 companies that I could almost build the entire car with if I needed. They had it ALL.
Anything similar to that in your Mustang world????

Thanks for your helpful advise in advance.

    Bob

    HI Bob,
Sounds like a fun project, yes there are many companies out there for the Mustang, I like Mustangs Plus in Stockton, great car guys! Depending on where you're at there's alot of them out there. Year One, Virginya Mustang (sp) California Mustang, National Parts Dept, all kinds of them!

If your really going to restore the car (verses fixing up) you might want to stay with one of the bigger suppliers that focuses more on original types of reproductions rather than the shops that supply replacement parts. For many this boils down to NPD or Virginia. The vast size of NPD makes it a good bet that they will have the part in stock (often a problem for many shops) and since they have multiple warehouses across the country get it to you quicker. All of the is important when you forgot a piece. For me NPD provides at least 90% of all the parts needed - currently

That being said there is ALLOT of bad reproduction parts out there and it IMHO would benefit you to find a good Mustang orientated site/forum where you can ask restoration bases questions so you don't have to repurchase items multiple times or just the wrong part. SHAMELESS Plug
    - one such site would be ConcoursMustangs.com ;) but its one of a number

Also be warned that there are plenty of shops that describe the parts as "concours" or even "concours approved" its best IMHO to ignore these overused descriptions as often they mean nothing since their usage as been abused do often.

I like Glazier Nolan, they've been restoring these cars since the 70's, and they'll give you the skinny on any part they sell. Some repros are better than OEM, and some suck. They'll be square with you, and won't beat you up on shipping, either.
