Ford has managed to get the colors that I want on GT 500 available to choose..But not together. I am in the military, about to deploy for a year, and during that time, I want to order a 2011 GT 500, but I want the Sterling Grey, with the Red stripes, and Red seats. It's a throwback to old old, much older than me Shelby's, and has alway been my favorite color combination. I recently talked to a dealership who said it would be impossible to order this lovely combination, and I would like to know if there is anyway around this, other than the obvious, and more expensive order plain Grey, purchase Red stripes, have somebody put them on. If it is impossible to order such a Stang, I would like to also know why. Will the Red stickers not stick to the Grey paint? Will the computer applying said sticker fry its circuits if such a feat was attempted. I mean, why can't we put whatever color sticker, on whatever color car. I mean come on Ford, let us have some fun with it.. Why can we have a Blue with Red, and not a Red with Blue? Why, why why... I'm now rambling becaus I am tired, but I do want the Grey and Red...with the seats....
I think it would be great to have more possible color combinations but I think it was just a monetary decision by Ford to limit the choices. I'm not certain about the rationale but I imagine it is just because it is easier and more cost effective to produce a limited number of combinations without having to worry about custom orders. just order without stripes and have dealer install the stripe color of your choice prior to delivery. robin
i hear ya.. thanks for your post, it answers a question i had about the possibility of ordering a different paint/stripe combo. i hear the answer is no! seems like they could've offered at least a few more options. grey w/ red is awesome combo, saw a rousch equipped that way.. very sweeet.. i was thinking of kona blue/black but thats not a possibility either. btw, have you heard whether there will be any changes made for the 2011 model?
