will the 68 fit on the 69? I've seen it done but am not sure of how much work it is if any or is just a bolt on.

Why? They were similar, but the 68 is smooth while the 69 is textured, and of course the gas cap is entirely different. The substitution would be obvious.

I have a 69 but want to retain the cobra gas cap in the middle instead of the license plate like on the 69. I'm building a shelby coupe as if you couldn't figure that out by my username.

You should probably check out the Shelby De Mexico. It seems like that is the direction you are going. Bob

I don't like the mexican versions. I am actually building my own design with the 69 coupe. I got the idea from the 68 green hornet and 68 lil red protypes that shelby made.

???? Then I guess it would be better to start with a 67 or 68 body like the two mentioned inspirations were made from. Saying you don't like the Mexico car is puzzling since when you do the same type of conversion in the back that you are proposing doing on a 69 coupe body you will end up with the identical De Mexico appearance even without the roofline extensions wether you like it or not IMHO. yeah I just don't like the roof line ext. I like the fact that the 69 coupe has a more slanted rear window than the 67 or 68.
