    Hay Everyone
I am now getting to the stage where i am replacing all front suspension and im %90 sure i read somewhere that the front coil springs where uprate on the 67 shelby gt500 as apose to the 390gt(shelby being stronger). My front coil springs look ok but if im replacing all the front suspension why leave old coil springs on.
So my question is does anyone no where the best place is to get front coil springs for a 67 shelby gt500? so you get the right ride height.
In alot of catalogs it just says (67-70 big block 71-73 all) so just one spring :huh:and im sure 67 shelby 500s had stronger coil springs.
Second question is more just a thought does anyone have 67 mustang/shelby (could be the same for 68 just the handle thats different i think) nos front vent window frames? and how much do they normally sell for?
Another question if nos vent frames are impossible to get has anyone had experience with the repo 67 vent window frames. do the fit well? chrome good? any porblems with them i should no?
As most i have seen are pitted badly on stangs in general with them being 40+ years old which is understandable.
Thanks everyone for any information you can give me and i apolagise if im wrong about the front coil springs but im sure they are stronger than gt390 for 67.
    Thanks again
    Dave

Dave, I would not replace the coils unless you absolutely have to. The front coils are Shelby Unique. They were replaced on the Ford line as indicated by the Shelby delete sheet . The are referred to as a progressive rate spring. They were never serviced with the exact same spring put serviced in pairs with 390 rated front coils as far as I can tell. The Shelby front coil would be the same height as a comparable equipped 390 mustang but the coils are a thicker wire. The repro vent window frames fit like most other repro items-poorly. The glass frame isn't too bad but they chrome the entire frame . The factory is a stainless frame and a chrome pivot point. The pivot point is what gets pitted on those. I have not tried the complete assembly which is the complete chrome frame and the repro glass frame. That might fit better because they are pre assembled . It seems like they don't work well with original parts. I hope this helps. Bob

Just have your original window parts re-finished. Nothing fits better than ford parts [jmho]

That would be best but you have to watch out for a few things so to get the best results. First using a core that isn't too badly pitted and then there is a triangle grooved detail in the lower front corner of the pot metal wing vent frame that is usually rubbed away during the polishing process. I have my chromer re cut the triangle into the area. The stainless frame is a problem too the pivot point that pits is hard to plate while riveted onto the the stainless frame. I have a friend who has experimented with taping off everything but the pivot point with fiberglass tape with good results. I just wanted to mention the problems so that they can be overcome if refurbishing is undertaken. Bob

Good point Bob, like every thing from re-chroming to sand basting. Should only be in the hands of an expert with a good knowledge of what is to be expected.

I paid $900 to have the vent window frames and rear window frames (I have a 68 vert) rechromed. He was able to keep the detail mentioned above and get the pivot point correct.
