    Re: Exhaust gt500

I put the KR exhaust on my 2010 shelby and I think it has just the right note.

3" is way to big for these cars. All that is needed is to change the muffler. There is no performance gain doing this ,its just for the sound.

well it sounds wicked. although the drone is a bit much in the 2000 range in 5th and 6th gear. it does sounds very aggressive upon acceleration. i went with the 3" so that when i put long tubes on it....my pipes will mate with the 3" collectors.

Even with long tube headers and a bigger blower,3 " is not needed. We have made 640 hpr with 2 1/2 exhaust and saw no power gain with a 3" system, just louder.

I want to achieve a sound more like a cobra, the GT500 is too quiet....can you do it with just an axle back replacement?....has anyone tried either of these axle backs and which would you prefer?

does it really make any noticeable difference (other than sound?)

    Ford Racing M-5230-S about $570
    Bassani 4607SR5 about $460

the Bassani looks more flow through but the Ford might sound better, not sure

I added the KR mufflers to my '09. The car was just a little too quiet but the KR's really gave it a very aggressive growl without being over bearing. I am very happy with my choice.

JBA Racing 3" stainless from long tube headers ...x-pipe ... catbacks & mufflers.
My 2008 GT500 was the JBA 'mule' for that system. Bought the car from them.
Wanted the blue with white stripes & the dealers did not have that color.
    LOUD.
    Way Loud.
    Not for everyone.
Local sheriff is not pleased, either.

I just added a Borla stinger axle back and love it, not much louder but nice rumble. Also added a stage 2 package and can't believe the difference in power!

I have Borla's on my 08 Snake and they are quiet from the interior prospective...but standing on the outside with it WOT on a dyno...they sounded awesome and made my ears ring! The ONLY way to judge is to hear them from the outside...and since NO ONE drives my car but me..the dyno is the best way...
