Shelby owners.....I have a 2008 Shelby gt500...need some rumble ..car bit too quiet...any ideas?....nothing too loud...but a nice little groan would be sweet...give me some ideas!!...
Re: Exhaust gt500 We build custom exhaust for them with stainless steel ,50 Flowmasters and 3 1/2 rolled ,stainless tips.I have pictures if you send me your e-mail address.Sound great and not too loud! Greg
3" is way to big for these cars. All that is needed is to change the muffler. There is no performance gain doing this ,its just for the sound.
well it sounds wicked. although the drone is a bit much in the 2000 range in 5th and 6th gear. it does sounds very aggressive upon acceleration. i went with the 3" so that when i put long tubes on it....my pipes will mate with the 3" collectors.
Even with long tube headers and a bigger blower,3 " is not needed. We have made 640 hpr with 2 1/2 exhaust and saw no power gain with a 3" system, just louder.
I want to achieve a sound more like a cobra, the GT500 is too quiet....can you do it with just an axle back replacement?....has anyone tried either of these axle backs and which would you prefer? does it really make any noticeable difference (other than sound?) Ford Racing M-5230-S about $570 Bassani 4607SR5 about $460 the Bassani looks more flow through but the Ford might sound better, not sure 2007 GT500 stock 2- 1989 Thunderbird SC 5 speed 3 - 1992 Thunderbird SC auto .....in various stages of mod
so please tell me the compromise, the throaty, coveted Mustang GT sound ..how do you get it for the GT500?
Hi,I told in a earlier post what my customers like,50 stainless steel Flowmasters with 3 1/2 ,rolled stainless steel tip.Send me your e-mail address and I can send you some pictures of what it looks like. Greg
boss shelby, I too have a GT500 (2010) and would like to improve on performance as well as sound. I would be interested to see your setup you're talking about. My e-mail is Rickanwesson@yahoo.com. Would appreciate the photos and info you have. Thanks
I added the KR mufflers to my '09. The car was just a little too quiet but the KR's really gave it a very aggressive growl without being over bearing. I am very happy with my choice. James
JBA Racing 3" stainless from long tube headers ...x-pipe ... catbacks & mufflers. My 2008 GT500 was the JBA 'mule' for that system. Bought the car from them. Wanted the blue with white stripes & the dealers did not have that color. LOUD. Way Loud. Not for everyone. Local sheriff is not pleased, either. ;8)
I put MAC Axle Back Mufflers on my 2010. I like the sound much better then stock. http://s151.photobucket.com/albums/...g/Videos/?action=view¤t=MACAxleBack.mp4
greg, I believe you are the one who did my Mustamg exhaust. Do you own the exhaust shop in Mt. Clemens. If so I would like to check out your setup on the GT500 as im in need of some axle back mufflers. my email is michaelj69@comcast.net. thanks Mike
I just added a Borla stinger axle back and love it, not much louder but nice rumble. Also added a stage 2 package and can't believe the difference in power!
I have Borla's on my 08 Snake and they are quiet from the interior prospective...but standing on the outside with it WOT on a dyno...they sounded awesome and made my ears ring! The ONLY way to judge is to hear them from the outside...and since NO ONE drives my car but me..the dyno is the best way...
Just put an h-pipe in with some super 44 flowmasters. sounds good in my opinion. not raspy not too loud either.
