Hi all, this is my first post on shelbyforums. I just got my first Shelby 4 days ago. I bought a Shelby GT 2008 and I would like to know some good upgrades for HP for under a $1000. I'm already looking at new pulley's but I would like some feedback on some real enthusiasts. I know about a supercharger and "Why didn't you just buy a GT500?" This was the car I wanted and I would very much appriciate some input. Thanks to all!!!

congrats on your Shelby purchase. I have a white Shelby GT and love driving it around. As for upgrades maybe you should consider an exhaust. Give that ride a nice sound. :guns:

I certainly will look into a new exaust. I've also heard alot about tuners..such as the diablo predator and such things....are these things worth it?

Congrats on your new Shelby! I have a Barrett Jackson 'vert (08SGT2247) with a Kenne Bell. The supercharger is your best bet for a boost, but it's about $10K.

To answer the question - why didn't you buy a GT500 - the answer is simple. Handling. The FRPP handling and CAI pack they put on these cars are really awesome.

Good luck! You're going to love it!

I had a Roushcharger installed by the dealer, it sounds absolutely fantastic, kicks butt and it is warranted by Ford. I am also getting a Carroll Shelby autograph on my passenger side airbag cover once I get it off and send it in. My wife got me a certificate for the autograph which is great plus the money goes to charity.

The stock exhaust on your Shelby GT is already a performance exhaust and I would not change it unless you are looking for a louder exhaust, what you have is as good as you can get. I have about 16,000 on My Shelby GT and it sounds great and is much louder than when new.

I also added a “true” ram air hood (hood flat black on white car) which helps with the HP, keeps it cool and look very mean. I also added 20" Shelby Razor wheels.

Also the Shelby GT comes with the suspension track pack and has an aluminum block and heads which means better handling etc, the GT 500 has a cast block which makes a difference in handling and acceleration.

Shelby GTs, KRs, Super Snakes, 40ths, Terlinguas, etc are all “true Shelby” cars, and the factory GT500 is an SVT vehicle, a Ford SVT with a the Shelby logo. I have heard some people have traded their GT 500 in for a Shelby GT as they are a true Shelby built car. Don’t get me wrong the SVT GT 500 is a fantastic car.
Just my two cents, good luck. Casey

I've got a 2007 Shelby White /Silver and have been looking for upgrades also....

    for under a $1,000.
maybe an electric fan motor ?
    or
    maybe an electric water pump?
    or
maybe a set of engine caps with Shelby GT logo / engine fuse box cover / engine battery hold down, etc .....lots of stuff available
    or
    interior chrome stuff...lots available
    or
    front / rear brake ducts

supercharger = yes - one day

    GOD Bless
