What amount are you willing to pay for the 2007 GT500? Well, we hear the price they are shooting for is below $40,000 but we don't really know what it will be yet. It seems they may be considering cutting some corners to keep the price low, but if they were to add more features and the car would cost more, would you buy it? So, dealer markups aside, we are talking about the base price/MSRP. If the fine folks at SVT were to pack say, $50,000 worth of goods into the car, would you still buy? At what point does it become too expensive? What is your price point?

I think they could put a heck of a package together for under $40 grand. I am willing to pay more but the car still has to maintain a perceived value. If that makes sense.

$90,000 could be a fair price for a no-holds barred edition with a production of 500 or less.

I think they should offer the car as competent base package with performance upgrades available as they did in the good old days.

I think you've got the right idea. I would just hate to see them cut too much out of the base package in order to meet that $40,000 threshold. I think they will get it right.

    Rshelby,

I was wondering if you had a chance to see posts regarding the test mule sightings and the hugely contested changes or speculation of changes to the final product in January. I''ve read the following and thought wow is your Grand father aware this is what is going on...the GT 500 is starting to look ...well awfull.

    1) Changes to the hood with Fake Air Scoops Test mules being seen look awfull

    2) No rear Air Diffuser.

    3) No full on Leather interior...Speculation?

    4) no More Twin Screw Blower

    5) No more Air diffuser or one that looks bloody awful.

    6) Removal of Shelby lettering across the back.

    7) Changes to the Braking system...No more Brembo Brakes???

    8) No 19" tires...??

I'm either not cut out for these late forum reads or there is some kind of panic happeing on all these other Boards. Any chance you have some insite on what is fact and or fiction...Can anyone validate that this is happening. I for one loved the Prototype...and for that reason went and put a deposit down to buy one...now even the dealer can't give me straight anwsers when I asked if this stuff was true...all he could say was we'll just have to wait and see what they release in January...bummer response and not re-assuring at all.

Any ideas as to what might be fact or fiction...As I head into this purchase I'm starting to think what am I getting myself into!

Cheers and thanks for any help!

I'm not paying over MSRP. Anyone else that does is just encouraging dealers to do markups.

40 thousand seems reasonable for a bare bones model. Just make sure that there are 10 thousand dollars worth of options available.

I would even be willing to pay above MSRP is I could order the car in the color I want (grabber orange) I also want one of those glass tops like they have on the Saleens.

$40,000 would be a great price based on the exchange rate of less then 20 % from US to Canadian dollars. 4 years ago when I bought my tbird the rate was over 60%. This add $20,000 to the MSRP. Slap on 15% for taxes. It will be wait and see for pricing and what the car finally looks like. I`ve been down this road before buying the first year model. The next years comes out with a lot of improvements and will cost less. Just not good at waiting.

I would pay $40k for one. I would probably pay $45k for one with IRS.
I would only pay over MSRP if I could order the car with exactly the
options/colour I want, not for one on the lot.

    Regards,
    Chris.
