Can anyone tell me what the value difference and desirability is of a 65-66 GT350 4spd v auto GT350 both in the same condition?
If you can find a 65 GT350 with an original equipment auto trans, let us know, as all records indicate the auto was not available on either the 65 GT350 or 65 K code Mustang. The C4 was a rare option in 66, seen mostly on GT350H Hertz rental cars. I wouldn't say there's much difference in value, though.
Thanks for that. Yes you're right no auto on 65 this was a typo. I'm only concerned about 66 Auot v spd.
Can't be of any help with valuation as I'm always surprised at what some people will spend on these toys and I'm not good as guess those numbers In general 65's are (read have) been worth two to three times a 66 in similar condition. Early 66's (the carry over cars) are often worth more than the rest of the 66 production while automatic Hertz cars are in there somewhere. Non- Hertz automatics though rare normally bring less than a similar 4 speed. Of course this is all about demand when there are more sellers than buyers prices go down. And then there is the inverse of this Of course desirability is an individual think as some owners don't like the 65 for the noise, rattles and such while others will seek these these cars because they are just that. We can go on and on but in general you don't get to pick what is for sale or what you can find you have to evaluate what is or wait in most cases
Thanks for the reply. I find your comments very useful. I only wish I could put a dollar value on one that I'm looking at which is an Auot sappfire blue wit white stripes. Any Idea???
Would guess this is a later car equipped as you describe. Guessing (since you didn't mention it) that it is a non-Hertz car. Sound similar to the one I have for my wife - non Hertz blue, automatic, white stripes with chrome Magnums (built in the middle of a Hertz run). ALLOT depends on the current condition as well as what (of original parts) are missing. Also IMHO some value is dependent on how you plan on using the car (driver or show car) since lacking all the good parts (like the original engine) can make it a non-purchase from the beginning if your looking at a show car and mean less if you just want a driver (though it will effect resale) My bottom line always it to take the dollars they are asking and compare that amount to what else you can buy now for the same price and if that other car is a better purchase. At least you get an idea of comparative worth at that exact moment in time. Not sure if you can hope for anything more. IF you get serious about purchasing a car I would surely get a second opinion and if you are not REAL comfortable with the cars and all the games that can be played get someone with some experience to look at it for you. This will at least provide a level of comfort before and even after the purchase.
Thanks once again Jeff. Yes it sounds exactly like you wifes car. Pics of it look good. Would you be able to give me your email so that I can speak with you more specifially? Thanks Ross
Well we've seen our share of bogus EBay ads - haven't we. At least I'm sure where that one is this minute.
