Does anyone have experience driving in light snow (2-3 inches) with stock tires? The literature on the Goodyear Eagle F1 tires on my '09 GT500 state that they are not designed for driving in snow, but I was wondering if there are any serious problems in doing so.

I live in the mid-Atlantic area and we frequently get light snow and I didn't want to run and hide in the garage every time we get and inch or two.

    Thanks

I live in New England and we get bombed with snow quite often. Sorry I can't help but my Shelby will stay tucked in safely in the garage all winter. Some of the most slippery snow conditions you will come across are the 1-3 inch snow storms. Why chance it if you don't have to?

Yeah, I feel the same way. We don't have many snowfalls here in Delaware, but when we do I keep the Shelby in the garage and rent a cheap car from Enterprise for the duration.

question is. if you have the $$ to buy a 09 gt 500, then you have the $$ to buy a car to drive in the winter and park your shelby. why would you subject your shelby to salt and wintry conditions?? all it takes is a little salt to coat the bottom of the car and get into crevices and years down the road wonder why it's rusting in weird places. that's my 2 cents.

Mustangs in general don't do too well in the snow. Even my wife's former 97 V-6er was a handful. These aren't winter cars....at all.

I think you're right, that's the problem with rear wheel drive cars!

as fitted, the tires should be rated for warm weather use only.
as tempetures drop, esp below freezing and the snow comes, you will loose traction and control.
There are a few winter tires available that work very well. Check with The Tire Rack for more information. Im driving an 08 roush sc, winter tires are great, summers........ basicly you wont be moving much AND if you do get going, the slow down is like cedar point.
I have fitted many cars with the modern winter tires over the past few years but remember this, you must fit a set of 4. dont do just the drive wheels.
the car will be delightful in the winter as long as you dont belly flop.

The real question here is "Why would you want to drive a Shelby in snow?"
