I just bought my first Shelby GT500 Coupe about a week ago and what a blast I'm having with it! The good thing is that my wife is afraid of it so I get to drive this badboy all by my lonesome. Oh BTW its a 2010 in Kona blue with silver stripes. I've added quarter window louvers and hood pins but thats gonna be the only pimpin I'll do to this ride. I look forward to the interaction with the rest of you!
Welcome from Mike out on "da I-land" Just where do you drive this "bad-boy" in NYC? Come out and join our local club, www.mscli.com Good luck with the new ride. M.
Welcome, you have a cohort,,Melissa in Queens with a new 09,,,she may be on the gt500 forum, You might want to look at www.mgwltd.com. They have a very nice replacement for that ugly plastic power cap on th dash. You can get it in chrome or aluminum with a cobra on the front,,,,a nice touch on the inside. Good luck with your new beast,,,,my wife loves to ride in mine.
so far the best I've been able to do is get it into 5th on the Grand Central Pkwy late at night but there are cops all over the place. I may take you up on joining your club, thanks for the response!
appreciate the info Wylie! I'll be on the lookout for Melissa for sure. I'm in the Astoria/LIC area. Thanks for the reply.
Im in Nassau County -- try the Meadowbrook Prkwy. There are some nice stretches that are pretty straight where you can open it up abit more, and only 2 trooper hangouts to look for. Ive taken it to about 3250-3500rpms in 6th. Im not gonna tell you how fast that is (bc we all only go 55mph )
Very interesting. I too live in the NYC area (lawng Island) and just received my 2010 Kona Blue w/Silver stripes GT500. It's an epidemic I tell ya. My thought is to cosmetically change it into a Super Snake, at a fraction of the price Mr. Shelby charges at his castle in Las Vegas. And then when I'm good and broke, I'll work on the suspension, brakes, and maybe add that nice looking pod of dashes in the middle of the dashboard. 540 HP is enough for me at the moment. In any event good luck everybody and enjoy your new toys. By the way, I'm 67 years young and this is my 3rd Shelby. It's hard growing up
Well Grandprixracer I thought I had senority but I guess not. I just turned 65 last year and on my second shelby. I will definitely take the 09 over the 1969.
Wylie, I had a 1967 Forest Green GT 350. It breaks my heart and my bank account to think about it. But the new one is a lot of automobile! It's good to know I'm not the only crazy old guy on the block! See you around the forum............
Well grand prix I had a forest green 69 gt500 that got stolen in 1982. Now that is a heartbreaker. And yeah everybody asks me at my age why did you buy a car like that and I just tell them that I will die happier than you.
