    Hi guys,
Does anybody know for sure which carburetor Shelby
used on the 67 GT350's with automatic transmission,
Holley 3259-1 or Autolite? Pony Carburetor says Holley
for 67. I know that he used Autolite for all Auto equipped
66's after, I think car 800 or something. Have seen a letter
from Shelby stating the number and date but am not 100%
    sure on the number now.
    A guy in Sweden has a 67 S2MS marked Holley 3259-1 datecoded 721
equipped with a dash pot for sale.
    Anybody know for sure?
    Thanks,
    Texas Swede

    Hi Bo

Go to SAAC web site and email the guy in charge of the registry for 67.

It was the Holley. Not the cheap version either! it has the front and rear Lemans Bowls as they are referred to. I had 67 GT350 #165 Bought from original owner and that was on there from new. in 68 they changed on the GT350's to the Autolite while the GT500's retained Holleys.

I own #1790 (67 GT350) an Automatic Trans with Factory A/C car & the original carb to mine is an Autolite. I'm not saying all Automatic cars ended up with an Autolite carb in 67 but mine definitely received one. David

See, already we have "it depends". Meaning, it depended on the car's equipment. I have see the auto cars come either way.
BUT, I do not recall ever seeing a dashpot on the Holleys

My 67 GT350 #165 came factory stock with the Holley with Front and Rear LeMans Bowls Automatic Transmission and Air Conditioning. I would say best bet is contacting Dave Matthews who is the 67 Shelby Registrar to settle this one!!:phones:

Hi again and thanks for all responses,
I contacted Dave Mathews, SAAC registrar for 67's
and he said that Bob Gaines, their head judge had stated
that the auto equipped cars came with the Autolite carb.
He copied Bob to make sure that his opinion hadn't changed
since the original statement was made. Have not heard from
Bob yet. However, the guy wanted about $600 for a restoration
object which I think was too expensive.
Pony Carburetor's catalog states that all 67 GT350 came with
Holleys. 66's after I think #800 came with Autolites for automatic
equipped cars so it makes sense that the 67's did aswell.

You'd think something as big as a 67 GT 350 carb wouldn't be open to such debate. Every car I've ever seen has a Holley on it but that doesn't mean they came with one. You 67 guys got to get more on top of it, us 68 guys are splitting hairs over things like what date did cars change over from Marchal to Lucas:D

    Hi guys

Can anybody tell me what difference it makes for the carb
if you have manual or automatic transmission??
Why didn`t they just use one for both transmissions?

    Thank you very much
    Bye Jerry

already did the 68 thing! I only kept my 67 GT350 for a few weeks as it was ROUGH! but in retrospect should have kept it around. enjoying tinkering with the 67 GT500 and the way Values have shot up, I do not see myself affording another anytime soon. unless I sold this one...

Funny, I did the 67 thing and I too in retrospect should have kept them around too. Mine were 500's so I don't know about the 350 carb thing. I did have a 65 hipo that had the Autolite though

Agree that it's strange that there are so many opinions
about the carb for the 67 GT350 with automatic transmissions.
However, isn't that what makes this hobby, or as my wife calls
it, obsession, so great. Marchal or Lucas who cares when
you can discuss real things made in the US as Holleys and Autolites.
Just kidding! I know that 1968 cars # 1242 and 1243 had not only Marchal
lights but the cast iron manifolds as well. If I don't recall wrong they also
had Autolite carbs. Both of these 68's were exported to Sweden
and a couple of friends of mine used to own them.

I've documented a car built March 1 with Marchals but none after that. What I always wondered about those 68 Autolite 350's is would Ford still honor the recall if you brought it back to the dealer today?

Just wanted to add my two cents to the " What carburetor came on 1967
GT350 Shelbys with automatic transmission" question. I purchased a brand new ( read: original owner ) 1967 Shelby GT350 #1111 in April of 1967 from
Richardson Ford in Albuquerque, NM. It was equipped with a Holley 715
carburetor with LeMans bowls. Every 1967 Shelby GT350 with automatic I
have ever seen has been equipped the same way. Pehaps a few came with the Autolite when there was a shortage of Holley's at the factory. I do know mine came equipped with the Holley. In fact, I still have the main jets from
that Holley. Had to change them ( go smaller ) due to the altitude at
    Albuquerque: 5353' above sea level.
    Regards, shlby66

small block autos used autolites(hipo with manual choke) fake carbs have been done and a way to tell is the hole for the auto choke.

Chalk up another one with the Holly 715. This is a black plate, original, 67 350, automatic and AC. 68,000 original miles, the smog pump even works. I did a cosmetic restoration on this puppy about 6 years ago and do maintenance periodically. It should be at the Mustang Birthday Bash in Marietta, Ga on April 17.
