I have a 68 P.I. with a build date of Jan. 11 -68 . The # stamped on the block , below the head reads 8 A 11 N What does the letter N stand for ? It's hard for me to believe they stamped the engine with the build date. The Marti Report says it was built 1-29-68, eighteen days behind schedule. Any help appreciated. ---S.
Most engines have a build date hand stamped into them. The engine assembly date may be different than the actual car assembly date as they were assembled in different locations. By the way, Jan 11th is a certain chicken farmer's birthday. Not sure what the N is ?
Its just coincidence the assembly date and scheduled build date are the same. 2-3 weeks is about right which is where yours lines up
Oh sure, next thing your going to tell him its just a coincidence it was built on Shelby's birthday....this was defintely a special birthday edition
The last letter is the initial of the assembling worker And yes the assembly date of the car and the engine should both vary by a fair amount
