repairing 67 wood wheel

    does anyone know what kind of wood is used for the original steering wheels...looking to fill in some cracks before i refinish it.

    The wood is rose wood. Look in the classified section, at the 67 Steering wheel I restored that I am selling.

    For a 67 Shelby wood wheel, I believe it is beech.

    You could send a pic to Mike Lempert and ask what it would cost to repair. I'm sure he's seen worse.

    I used Mike to restore my '67 wheel and he did an excellent job.Also very reasonably priced.Highly recommended.......Greg.

    thanks for the tips but it looks like i'm wingin it...have the back dremmelled out and filled with jb weld (seems to be holding)..wood cracks fixed..now to the sanding part..could be interesting. i'm applying the side stripes tomorrow and the front and rear emblems...anybody have any measurements i can go by or was everycar different? thanks jim
