A delivery guy that comes into my work says he has a 1966 Shelby hood that he took off his original 1966 a number of years ago. Are there date codes or anything that will tell me it is legit? Thanks for any info., Mike

Start with getting his info & car #, that will lead you in the right direction.
    You do have a Registry....?

For '66 there were 3 different style hoods used; all fiberglass, fiberglass over a steel frame, and all steel. Do you know which version he has? I believe there are date codes on the steel framed and all steel versions, but am not aware of anything for the all fiberglass versions. For the fiberglass versions you will probably need someone who knows what the glass matting looks like on an original hood and go from there.

On my car with glass-steel hood, the date code is embossed approx 2 inches away from LH hinge on rear cross brace.

Thankyou very much guys, I will talk to him tommorow and hopefully see it. He owes me money for a car I sold him and wants to trade it to me. He is an older guy and said its off of his 1966 (why he would take it off I dont know) If I get it I guess I will have a hood for sale.I dont want to put an original shelby hood on mine when a real shelby might need it:thumbup: Will get more info tommorow.
