I recently purchased a 2007 Shelby GT 500 with 7200 mile on it. It was a repo. The car has been sitting for a long while so I took it in for a service and started driving it daily. When driving leaving 1st gear to 2nd it grinds into 2nd about 50% of the time, however if I double clutch it goes in without grinding, or if I pass the stick through the netural gate and bring it back to 2nd it works fine 90% of the time. The throwout bearing was very noisy in the begining, and now it is not too bad. Do I have a clutch problem or a transmission problem? I really love this car and I always wanted a Shelby and they were all too pricey on Ebay for me in 2007. This deal came along and I was pleased. When I first test drove the car it was fine. My first car was a standard three on the tree and have been driving standard transmissions since 1964.

There is a TSB from ford for those problems. Take it to the dealer.

If the clutch was bad ..all gears would grind... I am thinking 2nd gear synchronizer or blocking ring cracked!
