Hi,i've been looking in here for awhile and decided to join up.I have noticed alot of helpful information and good people on here and Thanks for letting me be a part of it. I'm 61 years young and my first new ford and i really love it.I had other muscle and sport cars starting at age 17,(The ones that mattered) 66 ss396 chevelle(L34),67 sunbeam alpine,67 chevelle malibu(L79)68 hemi roadrunner,69 corvette(L46),72 240z,75 cosworth vega,83 shelby charger,98 eclipse gsx,07 350z nismo. That's enough..lol. This one is an 09 in alloy/silver stripes. It took me 6 months to get it.I saw it when it was delivered on the first day at my local ford dealership(i just happened to be there, must have been fate..lol).....and took that long to hock my soul to get it. Of course you already know what i'm feeling...and it makes me feel like a kid again. Thanks again.
Nice list of past cars, quite a range of tastes. I always wanted a chance to drive a cosworth, what was that like? robin
Hi Robin,Ah yes the cosworth vega.A little background on the car. They worked on the car 5 years before it was available and by that time it was really corked up with smog control,it was only rated at 110 Hp.It had no low end power but once it got going it would run up to 120 fairly quick.Handling was great,it could stay with the bmw's of the day with no problem in the twisties. It had some firsts:first use of cast alum.mags, first electronic fuel injection, first stainless steel headers(beautiful btw). You could not get on the car:a/c,power brakes, power steering or automatic transmission. A lot of people, later on,took the engines out and put them in F2 open wheel cars. The car without the smog control and tuned would run very good.I drove the car all over the state and enjoyed it. I always wondered what would have happened racing this car against my 83 shelby charger which also handled very good.(FWD VS RWD),guess i'll never know..lol,but it would have been tight.
