I am not sure if you all will be interested in seeing these pictures or not, but i thought i would start a thread anyway to test the water. I know a lot of people hate the Eleanor Clones and due to the quality of some of the back yard builds, i can certainly see why.
Anyway, here is the car that i am currently building. I acquired the car from the second Unique Performance auction in May of 2008. After attempting to do some of the bodywork in the summer of 2008, i gave up due to ill fitting fiberglass issues and drove the car to the painter. Unfortuanately, some of the unique curse must have still been retained in the car and the painter went out of business two weeks later and he took my $4,000 deposit with him. Essentially, I paid $4,000 to have one dent filled in the drivers door and to have that door put in primer. The car sat until Spring 09. at that time i found a new shop which started working on the ill fitting fiberglass. The current progress depicts the car as it sits today. We are just waiting for the weather to warm up to spray the first coat of color.
    Enjoy, i hope.

Progress early December. I had to stall the shop from August till November because i needed another car painted.

Modified shock towers so the 4.6L will fit. It was a shame to cut out some of the only nice welds that unique did on the car, but it had to be done.

And this is how the looked the last time that i went to the shop-right before Christmas

I would be thrilled if my car was that far along. Are you going to paint the typical colors? I was always fond of this one:

Yes, i am going with the typical colors, but the gray i picked out is actually a good bit darker than the movie car. Ive explored other color options, but i keep coming back to the gray with black stripes

Nice job. Looks like a lot of hours. Will you be able legally register the completed car since there were so many issues concerning the VIN for the cars that were auctioned? Or will it be just for show.

Not a problem with the cars that i purchased. They both had VINS that handnt been hacked out. Not sure why-some cars had them, but the majority had theirs removed. The car has been registered since i brought it home. However, they did not come with titles, only Bill of Sales. I am sure that would have been a major issue in some states, but Alabama only requires the BOS and not a title on cars 25 years and older.

Thanks for sharing. It is looking good. I'm very curious as to what you are going to do with the front suspension. Can you still fit springs/shocks in those towers? You selected one hell of a great motor, and I've never seen one work in an early stang to date. It will sure be awesome when you get her done.

There are actually quite a few early mod mustangs out there. Check out DVS.com or Mustangone.com Memory lane classics and a few other are working on putting 5.4L shelby motors in 67 and 68 mustangs currently. That is a much bigger opponent than the 4.6L

I am using the RRS front coilover suspension kit. They are the same company that designed the Shock Tower notching kit. Nothing will be stock as far as the suspension, brakes and steering are concerned. About the only thing stock on the car will be the interior. I dont have a taste for custom interiors on vintage cars.

The suspension will not be the problem. Getting the right radiator and running the plumbing for it will be a challenge. Not to mention the correct driveshaft angle.

Very Nice......... When I checked out the Auction Web Site, it stated that all the VIN# were removed from all the Cars, how are you going to get a Title for this Car?

I bought this car and two others in the second auction. They started to hack out the vin, but left it. The other fastback that i bought and sold, had the VIN still intact. The convertible that i bought, from a guy that already had the car, came with a VIN too and title that was not void. Anyway, i just took the paperwork to the DMV with the BIll of sale and i didnt have a problem. Car is registered with its original VIN, i have the marti report, and its ready to go, whenever that happens. This car was original candy apple red with black interior, c4, and a 289 4V. It was sold in Los Angeles, if i remember correctly, will have to look, but somewhere in California.

Front suspension is installed. RRS front struts conversion

Started on the rear TCP G-link system, but had to stop because i apparently have a truck axle housing and it will not work with the brackets. I will have to wait on the correct unit to come in.

Front 17 x 8 with 4.5 backspacing PSE wheels are on the way.

And started tinkering around with the lights. I actually prefer the white inner lights as opposed to the blue ones, which are no longer available from PIAA
