Snake bit 67 GT500!! Alright, I made it through brake probs, suspension probs, transmission probs, etc! Took it out for a test run and drove fine. Everything seemed alright then all of a sudden I gave it some gas and it fell on it's face! It's not hot outside, the car was running fine, and all was good. I limped home and noticed the gas tank was making a racket! The fuel was boiling in the tank!! The gas gap was trying to pop off and you could hear the fuel bubbling! I put a thermometer in the tank with a string and it stated about 120 + degrees(after sitting for 10 minutes or so). I have stock exhaust, the pipes were pretty toasty, and nothing rubbing on the tank. The car would not idle down without dying and was just a bear to get home! I guess I need to check the timing and start over. This car basically needs to be just gone through totally but the owner doesn't want too. The starter is on the way as it's draining the battery when starting too. The owner has had this car for 30 year and has put maybe 4500 miles on it total! Any ideas on the gas tank getting so hot?? Thanks for all the help! Matt
I KNOW!!! I KNOW!!! BUT how, this is just crazy. I went out there 4 hrs later and it still will not run right. I'm beginning to think I got some really bad gas and there is more water than gas? I'm just wandering as my wife's car is running kinda rough and guess where that gas came from. We don't normally get gas there as it is overpriced but I needed the gas quick. MMMM! Stay tuned! Matt
