69/70 GT 500 Frt Valence Black-out

    Hi Guys, it's been awhile. Does anybody have some good pics of yhe frt valence (stone guard)/fender black-out around yhe parklamps. I dam ready to paint mine and discovered I lost my pics on my computer.

    BTW...pn searching the forum for info I discoverd Bob G has a pet peeve about "CAUTION=FAN" stickers on late BB cars. The NOS fan shroud I bought came w/one on it (red, not orange lke the repops). Before I get out the heat gun and take it off....What's the deal Bob???

    Sorry, its not only Bob's pet peeve.
    NOS does not mean assembly line correct or time period correct. The fan decals were part of a settlement (I believe it was some sort of class action suit) by Ford that happened in the early 70s. Any car taken into dealer for service or parts sold were required to have that sticker affixed. Sticker was used on other car lines prior to the 69 model year but not Mustang/Shelby. I think if you look at the sticker it has a C7 part #.
    As far as the blackout pics I only have the Smith assemblyline photos that show the nose assembled as a unit but no closeups of the blackout. Let me know if that helps

    Thanks TLEA for the info. I am well aware that NOS is not always the same as assyline, just wanted to be sure before I took it off.
    As far as the valence...I had the same pic you speak of... the frt end held in the clamshell....before I transfered all my pics to CD. Somehow I lost all my reference pics:doh:, but luckily not my resto pics of my car.

    Agree with Tim and Bob - its fairly common knowledge that the Fan Decal is not correct

    Great pics Jeff, it is pretty much what I thought, the tape line runs even w/top edge of valence. Looks to be a very flat paint too.

    As far as the FAN sticker....just wanted to be sure. You see them everywhere, even on supposedly Gold class cars. But, now that I know the "How and Why" ,I feel much more comfortable taking mine off. If there is one thing I have learned during this resto (my first)....don't change it till your sure it's wrong.

    BTW...found my reference pics...on a different disc, still no good black-out pics.
