Were Magstar rims ever offered, or used, on a 68 Shelby GT350?

I prefer the look of the Magstars to the 10 spokes. Would it considered a faux pas to put them on a '68?

    Thanks

if you want to show it technically both are wrong ..they ALL came stock with hubcaps as the standard....However it is your car and you should do whatever makes you happy...if you have the wherewithall(and space )i would do both...Have a set of steel wheels and hubcaps for show and a set of magstarsfor driving...That being said magstars were only the optional wheel for(part of) 1967....If you havent yet, get a production report for your car(emminger? for68)and it should say what wheels your car came with stock. Also the saac registry/saac registrar may have info. on your car(can you say research??sure you can!!)...have fun!!!!Trent

Thank for the reply. I understand that the Magstars came on 67's, but would putting a set on a '68 GT350 be like putting a mustache on the Mona Lisa?

BTW, I like the look of the stock hubcaps, does anyone currently Repro them?
    Thanks

mustache on the mona lisa?????hardly...These cars have very often been modified from day 1...My 67 gt500 has a number of mods /all bolt on except for the black/gold (hertz color)paint...It looks great and runs way better than stock as it is now....For years i wanted to go the full resto. route but now i am realizing what fun would that be?(i would never drive it)...Bottom line is unless you want to seriously show the car you should do whatever you want to get the most enjoyment out of it....As long as it is an easily reversed bolt on modification(i.e. wheels)youre not hurting the car so why not???Now when you get into cutting the car, fender flairs etc. you are talking about another kettle of fish.....my 2 cents....Trent

No, but they are findable. If they have blank centers or other car centers, I'm pretty sure the gas cap emblem was used there, too. These were used on many cars, including GM cars.

    drspencer,

Just keep in mind, that it is your car and you can do to it what ever you like.
If the look of Magstars spin your gears, by all means go for it.

Just one little bit of information regarding Magstars:

Be sure you Re-Torque the lug nuts on the Magstars, Regularly!

They ( lug nuts ) will loosen up with driving and in extreme cases, they can
come off ( ask me how I know ) and had a friend actually lose a wheel.

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone know if the Repro Magstars require lug centric, or hub centric balancing?
