I'm aware that assembly line/build/equipment/data tag errors are not all that unusual. However.... I have a conflict with both the paint AND the trim codes on the same car. What are the odds of that? Now, I haven't gotten down on my hands and knees to scrutinize the car...yet....but it really doesn't look to me like it's ever been tampered with. If it's been repainted or retrimmed, some did a really, really good job. It's quite possible, though, I'll admit. Thoughts? Cheers DD
Doug, What model do you have? '68 or '69? (OK, I saw your later post, you're working on a '69, my bad.)
Hi to a new owner! It would be really wise for you to join the Shelby American Automobile Club. The registrar for 68-69-70 Shelby cars is an original owner and really will help you learn about your car.Vinnie Liska is his name, and he has tons of info. If you can get to the convention in Ca.the end of the month, you will be able to meet and see a ton of people who are deep into these cars.Mark your calendar for Aug 27 and go for it!! If you can post pictures of your car it would really help us to help you better.Thanks. P.D.B)
I wouldn't classify the items you spoke of as "not that unusual". In almost cases I have seen the codes match the car, unless someone has boogered with something. Post up some more information and we will try to help.
Thanks for all the replies. The paint code on the door tag is "6" which, according to the Marti Report, should be Acapulco Blue. However, this car is red. The trim code on the door tag is "FAA" which should be Black Clarion knit/Corinthian vinyl. This car, however, has white upholstery. Unless information to the contrary comes along I guess I'll have to assume that the car has been treated to a trim and color change. Thanks for any input. Cheers DD
The first thing I would look at is the door and or door and tag have been changed. If you send me an email, I will hook up you with a guy that will tell you the original colors. Coralsnake68@hotmail.com
Thanks for that but the mystery is over. It took some serious looking but it is now apparent that the car has simply had a color and trim change somewhere along the line.....which is probably what everyone figured would be the case. Thanks again DD
