I'm Todd. I live in the SoCal area.

I had first my 'stang in 1980. A guy going overseas gave a 70 Mach I to my dad, with the expectation that Dad would sell it for him. It did not run, the body was bondo'd pretty much everywhere, and the grill was replaced with a wooden grill (not bad workmanship, considering)--couldn't tell the difference from more than 10' away. It had these monster Craigers on the back.

Anyway, nobody wanted anything to do with it. Eventually, we stopped hearing from the guy. Dad had the car transferred to his name and said I could have it, if I fixed it up. Which I did, on my own dime, blood, sweat, and tears. It's been love ever since. Dating in high school is easier when you have a hot car. Of course, the relationships were shortened drastically when they find out that all the riches go into the 'true love of my life'. :D

I had Mustangs ever since...85 GT (carb and roller cam), 95 conv, 03 Cobra, and now '08 GT500. Each car with it's own story.

My dream, though, is to recapture my youth and get a Shelby project of some kind. Back in the garage...more blood, sweat,...er...you get the picture. Unfortunately, it's on hold until I get a GARAGE. SoCal livin' ain't cheap and the houses aren't either--even now. Never mind enough space for a personal mechanic shop.

    Sigh...I can dream.

Very true. At least I can see the vintage Shelbys on a regular basis. Every last Sunday of the month, there's a car meet in Calabasas, CA. A lot of money and a lot of vintage/newer cars. Of course, vintage Shelby GT350, GT500, and Cobras. Not sure which are authentic, though. Really nice, none the less. Newer cars like the Shelby GT, GT500, SuperSnake and the like can be seen, as well. Of course, it's not just Mustangs, there is just about every breed of car down there--Vettes, Italian makes, and specialty supercars. Even extremely rare cars, like Jay Leno's '63 Chrysler Ghia Turbine. Tuners (Asian makes) tend to show up a little later in the day. I've got pics of cars that I'll probably only see once in my entire life.

A quick drive through Malibu on any given Sunday will reveal the occasional vintage Shelby.
