    Hi all,

Sorting out a few details on my WT6066 KR. I am moving very slowly towards getting the car as tidy and as original as possible. I doubt if she will ever be a concours winner, but I want every thing I do to her to be pointed in that direction...

So, I'm doing a tidy-up in the trunk, and I had a question on recommendations for the spare. I have repop 10-spokes and Goodyear Eagle tyres on the car, but I still have the original spare that came with the car when I bought it - because I think it looks kind of cool. The tire itself is the baldest I have ever seen - I actually thought it was one of those DOT drag slicks that has just one small tread groove in them.

So what is the opinion - keep this old spare as a "period curiousity", or just bite the bullet and get a spare that matches the wheels and tires that are on the car?

Oh, and as for the spare location - face up or face down in KR's? If I replace the steel wheel with a 10-spoke, does that change? I believe the sticker I have in the trunk says face up, but that could be the wrong sticker...

EDIT: Oh, one other thing - what is the best lug wrench to get? Was there a specific lug-wrench sold with 10 spokes "back in the day"?

    Cheers,
    Chris.

Since its not an original spare I wouldn't at all about it and put one in that matches the ones on the car. As far as the wheel, all 3 judging venues currently allow steel wheel for spare when 10 spokes are used.

The trim ring and tire are not correct. But you do have it mounted correctly. The jack goes underneath and is usually loose, held down by the tire.

Keep in mind if you use ten spokes, the lugs differ and you can not use this spare. The lug nuts will not tighten down enough on the steel wheel. You better carry some regular nuts with you.

Thanks guys - I think you're right, I'll probably get a 10-spoke spare and matching tyre...
