1965 Shelby Radios

Discussion in 'Shelby Mustang List' started by jonlee@wt.net, Jul 21, 2005.

  1. Everyone:

Does anyone know about the 65-350 radios? I can't seem to figure out why the radio light does not come on when I turn the dash lights on or does it have lights in there. I spent 30 minutes replacing
all the old factory dead bulbs in the dash since no one bothered to replace them and the radio is the only one left. Did these 65 -350 cars even came with radios?

Any help is greatful as Im learning about these 65 Shelbys. Thanks

Jon-Yep, you could get a radio with your '65 GT-350. Most were probably
dealer installed, tho. There is a light in the radio but I believe you have
to take the radio out and take the faceplate off to replace it. The FoMoCo
factory shop manual lists the bulb as a #1891. Maybe others on the list have
actually changed one out and can describe how it's done.
    Regards, Stan

  3. Stan:

    Thanks for the info.

Another question. If the radio was an option, did these 65 cars get shipped with an empty hole in the dash from the Shelby factory or was there a face plate to cover the hole?

My Shelby invoice shows Le Mans stripes ordered from the Venice shop but no radio listed. If a radio was ordered, I can presume the Venice shop would make you pay for it, right?
