I have an intermittent problem. Sometimes the engine cuts off just before redline or at the rev limiter. My Factory Ford tech can not figure out what the problem is. We have replaced the throttle body 4 or 5 times. Here are the engine mods: C&L Cold air intake and thermostat Underdrive pulleys Bigger Heat Exchanger Snow Performance Methanol Injection CJ Throttle body Magna Flow Cat Back exhaust Any help would be highly appreciated
Were you having this problem before you installed the Water/Methanol injection system? Is it turning off at the same time the rev limiter is taking over?
We never got the car to run good on the methanol either, so its turned off. It cuts off at the rev limiter and sometimes before the rev limiter. It keeps setting throttle body codes. We have put in 5 different throttle bodies and it still cuts off intermittently. Someone has to know the answer to this problem Please help! Thanks, Kurt
When you say CJ unit are you talking about the FRPP Unit? Did he set the throttle stop correctly? Did he check the voltage after setting the throttle stop before he bolted the unit on. Mind you this needs to be done with the electrical hookups connected without bolting it up first. Remember this is a fly-by-wire system. You don't bolt it on without making these fine adjustments first. Rarely do you get it right on the first try. They have a specific voltage range they must operate in. If he just bolted the unit on without making these adjustment, then the synchronization between the throttle sensor and the actual throttle movement may be off. This would cause the ECU to throw TB codes. None of the throttle bodies I've ever installed are set correctly from the factory. I'll bet this could be the problem. He also need to check the spring index and make sure the spring cap is matching the recess in the motor housing. All this needs to be done with the throttle off the intake plenum. Cheers Jeffafa
