I was at the Vault here in Houston the other day and noticed a 1965 Shelby, it looked original but then I noticed the gas cap and it was the same as a Mustang would have, not the Shelby one, now I wonder if the car was a clone. Since the car was a customers and in storage I could not look under the hood to see if it had a Shelby S/N plate.

    Any thoughts?

1965 GT350's had the regular Mustang gas cap. The special Shelby gas cap didn't show up until 1966.

    Steve,

Thanks, it was a little confusing to me as I am more familiar with the 1966.

That's cool, Ron. No one knows "everything" about these cars. That's one of the reasons they continue to hold our interest. There's always something new to learn.

BTW, I'm in Pasadena, just on the outskirts of Houston. We're practically neighbors.

Pasadena is very close, I live in Spring Branch just outside the 610 loop. Do you ever go to any car shows in the Houston area?
