When the Shelby techs changed the '66 intake manifolds from the cast iron to the aluminum, did they use the existing thermostat housing or a new one? And if they used the existing housing, it would have been blue, correct? like the blue manifold bolts that were re-used on the aluminum intake. Also, were the thermostat housings on the cast iron manifold also cast iron or aluminum? Any info. would be appreciated, Thanks
They unbolted the thermostat housing from the Fomoco manifold, and, rebolted it to the new Cobra manifold. I believe it is aluminum, painted Fomoco blue. The bypass hose and clamps had the same paint.
When it was painted a cover hood was put over the opening which left that part unpainted as 67GT500#2100 said. Texas Swede
