First off I am having a blast in my dream car. The 2011 is an absolute blast to drive and is insanely fast. I have 2 questions. 1. I have been hearing a noise, kind of a whining noise when i make a turn and it is only at slower speeds that it is audible. I took it to a Ford dealership and they said it was a carbon fiber component in the rear that was making the sound and I shouldnt be worried. Has anyone else heard of this? Was the dealer right? 2. Who is making the best sounding full exhaust for the new shelby? That is the first area that needs work done. Thanks guys!
h08kem, I`ve got the exact sound with my 2011 GT500. Could it be the EPAS or the SVT suspension? Hope someone has the answer.
I called the dealership and ford says it is the limited slip rear differential which is made out of carbon fiber making the noise. Ford said to take it to a parking lot and perform the tightest figure 8's possible about 5 times and it should work to rid the noise. I haven't tried it yet but once I do I will post my results. Let me know if you hear anything else!
thanks. I might try the figure 8s in the parking lot next to my local police station. Think they`ll mind?
hi i have a 2010 model (performance whte w/ dk blue stripes)... was thinkin on new exhaust, but after break-in period, i won't be adding one, as of now... i was thinking on the borla catbacks, but they may be too loud... i am a 51 yr young female and that would look kind of silly... me screaming down the road in a very small town... search you tube for exhaust sounds for 2010/11... enjoy your ride... use meguiar products and 3m aerospace for the stripes, dash, etc... if you are interested in a simple, but nice stereo system upgrade: focal 3 way speakers (kr3?), jl audio stealthbox, jl audio amp, alpine 900bt h/u (face plates are available) w/ audyssey (sets up stereo like yamaha home receiver)
My 09 received a new rear-end this summer but was more of a deep whine/ like something binding up. Car has 6500 miles and I will of owned it 2 years next week. Ride in some cars and see how the interior noise level is for you with various exhausts. Enjoy! Scott
If it succeeds, can you tell us the speed you were driving at, which gear etc. so that we may also duplicate your results? Thanks.
My 2010 made the same noise shortly after I got her. The dealer added some friction modifier to the diff fluid and it has been gone since.
