I am purchasing a 2008 GT 500 from the U.S. and planning on importing it into Canada. The daytime running lights will have to be activated to conform to the Canadian rules. Has anyone done this to their vehicle or know how to do it? I know the local Ford dealer will install the part, I am just trying to save the money by not having the dealer do it, if the job is not that hard.
Hi to a future owner, The daytime running lamp is actually not something that requires a part to be installed. If done properly it is done by reprogramming the module that controls the lights...and it needs to be done by a Ford dealer with an up to date scanner. We do quite a few vehicles every year and most 2005 and newer Fords are built this way.We usually charge 1 hour labor. It requires contacting Ford for different as built data, and giving them your R.I.V. number from the file when you imported the Shelby. They then supply the corrected data to download/reprogram your module. This is the best way to do it and if you have any other questions just send me a pm I have done dozens. We are the oldest dealership in Canada with close to 90 years of service. Regards P.D.
Here is the answer to my own question. I purchased the car and it has the optional headlights. These new headlights can't have the daytime running light feature added. The tech simply wired up the fog lamps to come 'on' with the key. Simple
Hi all, The cars that are equipped with optional HID lamps are also programmed to use the fog lamps as the Day time running lamps. As I posted earlier,It is done by reprogramming. You do not need to do anything with the existing wiring. If you have any questions or don't understand please post again. Enjoy the car! Regards P.D.
Are you sure it is the foglights that are activated with the HID lamps.I was told it was the front parking lights. Thanks, carguy.grl
