Here is a great example of why I am so particular about what people have or "think" they have.

    http://fayar.craigslist.org/cto/1970300162.html

This is a fake Shelby GT where the guy has taken a 2006 GT/CS and thrown a SGT plate from a wreck and selling it as a Shelby GT for $28K! Never mind there was no 2006 Shelby GT and nothing about the car is right the seller is running a scam. Heck they might actually think it is a Shelby GT!

Someone that doesn't know any better will buy it thinking they have a Shelby GT just like a member here bought something, we still don't know what it is, under the understanding it was a GT350. We also have someone here that's claiming to have a 2006 GT500 prototype when Ford NEVER sells working prototypes that can be titled and registered. What you do see a lot of is people selling GT's with GT500 body parts and calling them all sorts of things again I am awaiting some documentation on that one too.

There are a lot of crooks out there and I hate seeing people get ripped off worse people that seem not to have done even the most basic of research before they bought the car.

Anyone out there looking for a REAL Shelby should contact the SVT line in the case of a GT500 or Shelby American in the case of a Shelby GT, Shelby GT/SC, Super Snake, 40th, KR, or GT350. In other words there are sources to verify these things so there is NO EXCUSE for buying a fake.

Good luck and sorry if I come off, as has been said, "like a jerk", but after years of this and these fakes, my frustration is high.

This sort of thing has been going on for as long as certain models have been desirable. I remember years ago reading an ad in the the local paper for a '66 G.T.350. When I called the seller and asked what the VIN was he gave me a Mustang V8 Dearborn number. I asked him about it and he stated "Yeah it's a Shelby, it just never made it to California". I never looked at the car so I don't know what if any modifications had been done to it.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but wasn't there a Shelby GT-H model made in 2006 for Hertz but that's not it listed here in this thread. :noway:

You are right, it is hard to tell from those bad pictures if the car has the correct Hertz grille. It does not have the correct Hertz Shelby hood. The car is either a pieced together Hertz or just a fake.

The hood on this car from Craig's List is not even close to a Hertz hood. Hertz cars did not have a hood scoop. While Shelby did make GT-H cars for Hertz in 2006, there were no Shelby GT's produced until 2007 and 2008. Shelby also made a run of GT-H convertibles for Hertz in 2007.

That is what I am saying. It could be a Hertz that was hit in the front end and they put Mustang parts on it. Probably just a fake, but without the vin we will never know for sure.

    Awww...good point!

It's a bunch of bolt on parts on a 2006 GT the year being the ONLY thing he can't fake due to the title.
