I am opposed to the idea of the current location for the side GT500 stripes. I think it's too high up. However, I was just thinking that right across the black plastic rocker panel would be a good place to put the stripe and I like the idea of the GT500 words just behind the front splash guard on the rocker panel. What do you think?
Not so much. Goes against historical precedent for one but why bother asking if that's what you want? It's your car...go for it.
. It's a mark of smart thinking to solicit opinion. One person can make stupid decisions, two people are less likely to do so. I don't know what you mean by historical precedent, since the 1968 Shelbys had the side stripe almost right at the bottom.
Your pic, while nice, isn't what he's referring too. But regardless I would never tell or infer that someone was "stupid" for wanting to make their car their own. That said I think if you're not sure enough in what you want, and feel the need to seek out the validation of others, it's a pretty good sign it's not something you should be doing to a $50k car. IMHO!
Not trying to be clever, but should I be trying to guess what he was referring to and that you obviously know also? I'm just saying that if that rocker panel was striped, it would look very similar to the pic (striped at the bottom). It would certainly appear a better position than 1/3 up the door like it is now, IMO. I'm asking people's thoughts because I've never seen it done that way on the modern Mustangs, so there must be a logical reason why not - and I don't know what that answer is. Why not decorate that cheap piece of black plastic, rather than striping across a perfectly beautiful door? Seems logical to me, but evidently not logical to others since no-one's done it. Question: why doesn't anyone seem to think it's a good enough idea to do it themselves? Thanks.
Here you go, basically I am pretending that the black plastic rocker panel is just one big black stripe down the bottom, hence the "inverse" stripe design. Of course, it's a crappy "photoshop" attempt, but you can get a basic idea or how it might look. what's your opinion? yea or nay?
Here's version two that my friend did - just imagine the bottom white stripes and "GT500" text in the same colour as the body, which will have the effect of accentuating the natural curves of the hips (as the top white stripe emphasizes, drawn for illustrative purposes).
