I just sold my 2008 BULLITT. I always wanted a Shelby GT500. I'm in the process of looking at my options.
Of course buying a 2011 would give me a full warranty and all the updates and improvements, but also a $50K plus price tag. I'm seeing a lot of very low mile 2007-2009 GT500's out there in the $35-$40K range. I'm currently looking at a 2007 with 455 miles on the clock with a price tag of $36,995.
I'm concerned with problems that a low mile older car may give me.
I plan to drive the car for 1000 miles each Summer.
    Thanks for any input.........

I too watch Ebay and see those $39,995 cars with less than 1000 miles come up at auction, again and again. Seems the 07's had/have a clutch problem. Seems the 08's are faster. Seems the 09's are faster than those.
One place for all the information is in those Bi-year "Shelby" magazines. However, those are put out by Shelby so could the info be a little biased?

Lastly: somehow some dummys have no clue as to the power of these cars. Before I bought any used ones, I'd make sure I get a Carfax, and, a sworn statement that it is indeed not just a modified Mustang with all the Shelby stuff added on.

Last Feb. I found an 08 Black GT500 sitting in a garage with 558 miles on it...I paid about 10k less then the original sticker...I have upgraded it now to 550 rwhp and I simply love that car!! It has 7500 miles on it and if I have to replace the clutch...so what(no problems yet)...I still have a great car for a lot less money (and not the ugly rearend (IMO)) of a new one...I certainly wouldnt fear buying a 07-09 yr...

Thanks for the input........since I had the 08 BULLITT.....I do like the body design of the 07-09 Shelby GT500. I also like the cast wheels and interiors on those models. I just can't stand the white stripes on the seats in the 2011 models and the SVT Performance wheels and small exterior stripes. I guess I'm more old school.......can't warm up to the newer look.
As a former Corvette owner......the theory was always............buy as new as you can afford............does this hold true with the Shelby?
    More input would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

I havent had any issues as of yet...with 7500 miles on my 08...but as I look at it...I bought an 08 GT500 with 558miles on it..for about 10k less then the original sticker(what he paid for it)...I have added mods to push it to close to 650 hp (dynoed at 547 rwhp)...if I have clutch problems show up..I will have a Spec stage 3+ installed...figuring my mods and the clutch...I am still about 5K less then the original sticker...so the way I look at it... I have a much better car then a new 2011...and a lot less money...

The clutch issue comes in when a car is in heavy stop and go traffic all the time. the clutch cannot cool properly and the flywheel warps. I have an 09 with no issues but no traffic either. Where are you located and how far will you go to get a shelby. Don,t forget to look at craigslist.
