i have an opportunity to buy a 65 cobra replica. built in 89 with a 302 (300 hp) with 5k miles. its been sitting for 10 years. car builder company no longer around. drove car, seems to run fine. my concern is that the car is going to losen up now that its been used and problems are going to arise. fit and finishes are ok. seller is asking 19k. is that a good value for 89 car that has been sitting for 10 yrs?

    thank you in advance.

    1) drive it and enjoy.
    2) If & when it breaks fix it
    3) repeat.

p.s. if the engine, transmission, & suspension are in good condition, the price seems reasonable. Can you have at least the engine inspected by someone who knows Ford engines? The tires may look OK, but are way too old to be trusted. I would replace them. Same with radiator hoses, etc.

    Thank you for your reply.
That is my biggest concern is rubber, mounts etc will have been dried out and things are going to breaking now the car is being driven. I will have to expect and see if i can offset the purchase price.

I wouldn't be concerned about the engine mounts. In my experience age affects those less than usage. The other rubber items are not that labor intensive to replace.

You might want to check out the clubcobra forum. There is a wealth of experience over there where the replicas are concerned.
