The popping out of gear thing is caused by the aluminum cases expanding, this the the reasoning from 1970's. I just learned to drive with one hand on the wheel and one on the shifter. Hey, you steer a 65 with the throttle anyway. I had mine rebuilt and it only lasted a year autocrossing every weekend. Best move I ever made was putting a cast iron close ratio top loader in the car. Kept the original, however, and it was with the car when I sold it. > > From: jonlee@wt.net > Date: 2005/07/29 Fri PM 11:41:26 EDT > To: Shelby List <shelbymustang@carmemories.com> > Subject: RE: 65 350 Tranny > > INteresting!! > > So can we say that this Aluminum T 10 was also used in 66 Shelbys or early 66 cars? > Thanks to Kenny Chrisman and Bob who have early 66 Shelby cars, they too carry the same transmission that a 65 Shelby would have. > > Thanks for your input guys!!! Im still trying to drive with one hand on wheel and other on stick. Its not easy with city driving. Have you tried driving these cars in cowboy boots? I almost died in my 65 car. The heels and the seat position makes it "almost" impossible to use heel/toe action on the clutch pedal. It can be done though. I "aint" driving with spurs on though. ha ha jon Quoting lmathias@bellsouth.net: - The popping out of gear thing is caused by the aluminum cases expanding, this the the reasoning from 1970's. I am a firm believer in using the right tool for the job: -Horse = Cowboy Boots -Car = Driving Shoes Oh yeah, and if you are seen driving in cowboy boots east of the Mississippi, it had better be to go pick up your horse! Lee (and all) - The T10 is back in the car where it belongs. It still shifts well after I had the shifter re-built and adjusted the linkage. It does jump out of gear once in a while but not too often. The RUG CR box is waiting for me to put it in a car.
